Presentation Paradox – NBC NEWS

‘But it’s DeSantis, so we are free to misrepresent what is taking place!’

In a desperate lurch of misdirection, the aptly named reporter Shannon Pettypiece reports on the number of people fleeing the Sunshine State. A number of factors are listed, and the article opens with a lone example of a woman who encountered a hurricane, and…an armadillo infestation…??

This is all positioned as evidence that the state is a hellscape, and Ron DeSantis has cultivated an inhospitable environment that is chasing people out in record numbers. Except...:

Florida has had a population boom over the past several years, with more than 700,000 people moving there in 2022, and it was the second-fastest-growing state as of July 2023, according to Census Bureau data. Only Texas saw more one-way U-Haul moves into the state than Florida last year. Mortgage application data indicated there were nearly two homebuyers moving to Florida in 2023 for every one leaving, according to data analytics firm CoreLogic.

We have to guess therefore the “bad” news is that the impressive amount of people moving INTO the state would be elevated to “amazing” if there were not the departures.

The Sunshine State isn't always as sunny as it may seem.

Hundreds of thousands of new residents have flocked to Florida with the promise of beautiful weather and no income tax.

But nearly 500,000 left in 2022, according to the most recent Census data. https://t.co/hrwCb7QR8i

Reporting on the Mirror – POLITICO

Putting the sympathetic coverage of looters into sharp perspective.

Sam Stein gives a detailed report that casts the press into a (far more) negative light. Unsurprisingly, the reporters who ride along with the president on Air Force-1 are quite the larcenous lot. The theft of onboard items bearing the logo of the plane and/or administration sounds to be far more than commonplace, but it is a rampant problem:

Everyone, it appears, is pilfering from Air Force One. And it’s gotten so bad that last month, NBC correspondent KELLY O’DONNELL, the president of the White House Correspondents’ Association, included a terse reminder to colleagues that taking items off the plane was not allowed and reflected poorly on the press corps as a whole. For years, scores of journalists — and others — have quietly stuffed everything from engraved whiskey tumblers to wine glasses to pretty much anything with the Air Force One insignia on it into their bag before stepping off the plane. Several colleagues of one former White House correspondent for a major newspaper described them hosting a dinner party where all the food was served on gold-rimmed Air Force One plates, evidently taken bit by bit over the course of some time.

It appears that every single White House reporter is stealing stuff off of Air Force Onehttps://t.co/EdJOKxZvBf

Blue-Anon – THE NEW YORK TIMES

The ‘gross and ugly’ way Christians announced their love for Christ.

David French is regarded by some, for some reason, as an elevated mind. Were this true he would not sound so emotionally imbalanced so frequently, but this is what Trump can do to the most elevated of minds, apparently. Mr. French had the need to lecture about Christians and Easter, because Donald Trump said or posted some things that were not considered favorable to the Times’ “conservative” columnist.

We here at RFTH will just take a potentially dangerous stand with an opinion: If you regard Donald Trump as any type of religious authority, you run the risk of sounding like David French:

What we saw on Easter Sunday was a remarkable display of venom and hatred. During Holy Week, Christians all over Twitter were posting 'Christ is King' specifically aimed to assert religious dominance in a very gross and ugly way. It is very dangerous.

Democratic Custodial Services – CHANNEL 9 NEWS - DENVER

We’ll just allow this was the result of an extended weekend, and only interns were available.

There was much chattering this weekend over Joe Biden making grand declarations about Sunday being the Trans Day of Visibility – which is completely different from Transgender Day of Remembrance, or Transgender Awareness week, or Transgender Parents Day, all of which take place during Transgender Awareness Month.

After quite a bit of backlash we suddenly saw a bit of a turnaround. When Biden was asked about comments criticizing him for declaring Sunday the Trans holiday, he denied doing so. Only problem: It is actually on the record. Plus, he posted about doing this on social media. Like other outlets, channel 9 News in Denver repeated the denial sent out by the White House.

That would be, the same White House that issued the proclamation they are denying was ever made.

Okay, now here is the problem @9NEWS when you just repeat the talking points belched out by the administration and do not commit actual journalism:
You end up looking like complete tools for the Democrats.
We all saw Biden declare TDV. https://t.co/O366ehIWwq pic.twitter.com/DGKLrnFdSj

Pathological Media Amnesia – WASHINGTON POST

I guess there is evidence that at WaPo they do NOT operate with a hive mind.

Fair to say we are getting mixed signals from @WashingtonPost?

-WaPo February 2020: “ALL THE BEES ARE DYING!!!!”
-WaPo March 2024: “Oh no, we have too many damned bees!” pic.twitter.com/zV7vdW93EX
