People who called for an Israel-Hamas ceasefire and, having got one, called for it to be made permanent are aiding and abetting terrorists, often knowingly. A ceasefire shields Hamas leaders and foot soldiers from Israel’s intended annihilation, which is the right way — indeed the only way — to prevent more massacres like the one that shocked the world on Oct 7.

A guy who claims he’s “been around the block a few times” (but has learned little in his circuitous travels) asked on X, formerly known as Twitter, “What’s wrong with a ceasefire? Nobody gets killed during ceasefires.” The answer is: “That’s precisely the problem with ceasefires — they prevent the killing of terrorists, which all decent people should want.”

DESANTIS VERSUS NEWSOM IS THE DEBATE WE SHOULD BE HAVING

Israelis and others who value freedom have a duty to neutralize murderers who declare their determination to commit pogroms until all Jews are killed or removed from their ancient homeland.

But as firmly as we should support Israel when it resumes military action against Hamas, we should understand a serious problem with such action, and it isn’t that there will be more civilian casualties. Unintended civilian deaths are unavoidable in war, especially in this war because although the Israel Defense Force tries its best, Hamas puts innocents in harm’s way as cannon fodder for propaganda.

The long-term problem is that for every Hamas terrorist killed today, there is a little platoon of Palestinian youths ready to take his place. Gazan schools and TV indoctrinate children to be murderous Jew-haters, which is why 75% of Gaza’s 2.3 million people support the Oct. 7 atrocities.

In recent days, social media has featured young Palestinian children who, in their piping little voices, say they want to kill Jews by, for example, shooting them or running them over with a car. These prepubescent boys and girls don’t mention Israel, colonialism, or imperialism, which is how Western leftists varnish their hatred of Jews and support of violent revolution. Palestinian children, like all small children, are too young for sophisticated pretense, so they plainly declare their desire to kill Jews.

A single clip from Palestinian TV serves to demonstrate how they are manipulated. A female host, her hair under a hijab, talks to two little girls aged perhaps 5 or 6.

Host: Why do you want to be a policewoman? Like who?

Girl: Like my uncle.

Host: What do the police do?

Second (male) host off camera: They catch thieves and troublemakers.

First host: And they shoot Jews, right?

Girl: Right.

Host: You want to be like him, God willing, when you grow up.

Girl: I will shoot the Jews.

Host: All of them?

Girl: Yes.

Host: Good.

It’s basic and evil. Children are taught the same stuff at school, and here is an additional scandal. The schools are run by the United Nations. The agency for Palestinians, the U.N. Relief and Works Agency, has betrayed the international body’s purposes and now is a wholly owned subsidiary of Hamas, itself a subsidiary of the world’s deadliest terror state, Iran.

As the Foundation for Defense of Democracies has documented, UNWRA won’t acknowledge that Hamas is a terrorist organization, which allows it to hire staff who are Hamas members. Thus, U.N. resources go to work for genocide.

Jonathan Schanzer, FDD’s senior vice president of research, wrote this month, “UNRWA employees have promoted antisemitism online, including praise of Hitler. This is not a case of a few rotten apples but rather an agency that openly promotes hatred and violence while masquerading as a humanitarian body. There was no other way to interpret UNRWA’s positions after January 2021, when the agency’s secretary-general acknowledged that UNRWA’s official educational curricula refer to Israel as the 'enemy,' teach math by counting 'martyred' terrorists, and include the phrase 'Jihad is one of the doors to Paradise' in grammar lessons.”

Your tax dollars nurture the vilest ideology in the Middle East — the United States is the biggest financial backer of the U.N. — propagated by Iran and eagerly disseminated by Hamas to each new class of schoolchildren.

After his recent visit to Israel, X owner Elon Musk noted three prerequisites of Gazan peace. One is prosperity, so Gazans have an interest in stability. That can be done only gradually, over years. But the other two can and should be done immediately. The first is to kill all the terrorists fighting to destroy Israel.

The other is to end the indoctrination of Gaza’s young so they don’t go on to replenish their dead forebears on the terrorist front line. This can be done quickly if President Joe Biden demands, under threat of withholding funds, that U.N. reform include a novelty: an end to its current practice of raising children to be murderers.
