The Windsor Star’s recent story on Detroit’s skyline sparks a common sense question:
Given that we share the same riverside prime real estate and panoramic skyline view — why not also Windsor?
The area off Riverside Drive between Caesars Windsor and Hall Avenue to the east continues to consist of a few low-rise older houses, dilapidated buildings and empty lots.

This section of Riverside Drive is ripe for re-development and has high potential for construction of multiple highrise condominiums, rental apartments such as exist on the Drive near Pillette Avenue and/or affordable co-op housing similar to Solidarity Towers which has a never-endingly long applicant waiting list.
The addition of highrise accommodations on Riverside Drive in close walking distance to downtown Windsor would undoubtedly be a needed boon for the casin , downtown restaurants, riverfront activities and struggling businesses in the city core.
A common sense question for the mayor and city council: What is your plan for this long-neglected prime area of the city?
