This weekend, I attended the 49th Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach, a three-day event which sees six different race series compete in Southern California’s annual 200-mph beach party.
I missed out on the practice and qualifying sessions on Friday, but arrived just in time for IndyCar qualifying on Saturday, as well as the 100-minute IMSA SportsCar Grand Prix, a two-class race with GT Prototypes and GT Daytona sports cars, by far the most entertaining race of the weekend, which was filled with chaos and lots of passing.
Sunday came with the main event, the IndyCar Grand Prix of Long Beach.
For both races, as well as numerous races of other series, I sat in the big braking zone just before Turn 1, a bonafide passing opportunity. The view also provided a look at Turn 6, another great place for movement and action.
Three-day tickets were just $180, an absolute steal for any race fan. If you’ve got the chance in April 2025, you should go. Maybe I’ll see you there!
