As I write this, I’m in the hospital. My mom fell and hit her head. Last time she fell, she had a small brain bleed so although she wasn’t in too much pain, we thought it best to have her checked out.

Speaking of, we get a lot of press releases on studies and statistics (as you may have noticed). One that recently landed in my inbox used the latest data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to uncover the primary reason for non-fatal injuries leading to ER visits.

At the top of the list were falls followed by poisoning, impacts injuries, cuts, strains and sprains, bites and stings, transport-related injuries such as ATV accidents, ingestion or insertion of foreign objects and pedal cyclist injuries.

No wonder ERs are always packed! We have plenty of company tonight. However, we hope we can go home soon enough.
